Our Color Champion medium fawn herdsire, now has cria on the ground, and the first one is rose gray! Jack has superb density and high frequency crimp. Imagine that in a rose gray!
Captain Jack Sparrow is excelling in the show ring and had begun his breeding career. His first cria was born in May 2006 and was a dark rose gray! With Dakotia as his sire and Peruvian Leon as his maternal grandsire it's no wonder he has elite fleece, and this elite fleece is not the usual white, but a rich medium fawn.
Judges have praised him in the ring as possessing "...the kind of fleece each breeding program should strive for." One judge even went so far as to instruct the audience to have a close look at his fleece after he was placed as Grand Champion, and at the recent Great Midwest Alpaca Fest in Madison, WI Mike Safley placed Jack as Reserve Grand Champion in Halter.
His genetics are rare due to Dakotia's untimely death from the Land O' Lakes poison feed episode and Dakotia was arguably one of Bueno's finest sons. Bueno is now semi-retired with a breeding fee of $7,500.
Captain Jack Sparrow is offered on a limited basis each year. His cria have begun hitting the ground and Jack is demonstrating the ability to pass the dam's color or close to it, including GRAY! The Jack cria color spectrum runs from white to bay black!
Here are a few details of Jack's cria showing results. His DF son, Captain Morgan took a 1st at IAOBA Riverside and DF/MF Male Color Champion at GMAF. Jack's LB daughter took Reserve Champ at the 2008 IN show. His BG daughter, Serenity took Reserve Champ at the 2008 MABS. His DF saughter, Ivy's Holly, took Color Champ at Riverfest 2008.
He is demonstrating his prepotency by producing superb cria; 10 Color and Reserve Color Championships to date, in both halter and fleece classes at high level shows. We expect this number to grow as we enter our fall 2008 show season!
Think of Jack when you are planning your next breeding. He spends February - July at our farm and August - January at our partner's farm, Kendall Creek Alpacas in Bradford, PA. Complimentary transport is provided between farms as our own females are transported for breedings.

Captain Jack was winning his class at the 2004 MAPACA show. Judge Mike Safley stated: "He had rarely seen such a degree of primary and secondary bundling on an alpaca at his age." Jack was 9 months old at the time!
